Custos deploys its Moodle document protection software for a top-tier South African research university.

The worldwide Covid epidemic has accelerated the deployment and the need for distance learning at all learning institutions, from schools to universities and beyond. Although it was proven that technologies and platforms can rapidly evolve to provide effective distance learning, the risk of illegal download of valuable and sensitive learning material has increased substantially and threatens the very existence of many, if not all distance learning institutions.

The Custos EdTech Document Protection solution uses patented watermarking technologies linked to the blockchain to ensure that sensitive and valuable digital learning material (documents, videos, and images) are protected from illegal distribution. In case material is downloaded and illegally distributed, the source of the leak is quickly detected and revealed by the network of bounty hunters on the Web, allowing the legal owners of the material to take effective steps to stop such leakage.

We have recently integrated our solution with the Moodle LMS platform at a top-tier academic university in South Africa. This integration is proving effective and efficient and does not add to the complexity of managing the download and distribution platform currently in operation. The problem of illegal downloads as explained above was becoming a serious issue and with our solution deployed, the team at the university are now able to successfully turn this problem around.

It is important to note that our EdTech Document Protection solution integrates with and supports any LMS (learning management system).
